It is nice to see my work being used by people, I do get a buzz from that. I did a little bit of Googling just to see where I could find work of mine that had been acknowledged correctly as my work. I was surprised to find so many instances. It also helps with my visibility which over time should bring in more business.

I’ve been working on some new code that delivers product placements from service providers directly onto my site and here it is. The great thing about this is that the service offerings are changing all the time keeping it fresh and new.

Finally got to grips with the Lulu interface and managed to grab the code for my new art book preview Images from my mind.

Thought I’d continue the publishing theme from my last post with a round up of where I am at the moment.

Firstly there is my new photo book called Images from my mind. It’s a collection of some of my art work in a photo book format. It gives a taste of what art I create and is really a fore runner to a complete set of themed art books I’m working on. Just click the Lulu icon to be taken to the book where you can preview its contents and of course buy a copy.

I’ve also created a new book along one of my favourite passtimes, that being maths. This book is a printing of Pi to 1,000,000 decimal places. I dare you to purchase and read it – it’s a very difficult book to read and take in as it consists entirely of numbers. It would make a crazy present so click the Lulu picture below and grab a copy now.

Finally I’ve taken some of my music creations and put them together on a CD for your listening pleasure. Instrumental guitar music is where I’m coming from with this release. Again the Lulu picture below will take you to the CD site. the release is called Disco noise with guitars. I hope you like it.

I’m just starting to get into creating WordPress themes so I thought I’d share my creations. I’m not sure how you’d download one but if you like one and want it then drop me a line and I’ll mail over the code. Simple as that really. If you want a theme designing then I can do this also but you might have to pay me then :-)

You’ll find them located under the Art tab as theme creation is somewhat of an artistic adventure.

I thought it about time to share another aspect of my life with the world, that of governance. I’m currently involved in a couple of governance roles and looking to get a third under my belt soon.

The first governor role is to support a local school, the second is a national charity delivering business educational experiences to young people. I’ve created a page on the site that will have more details on each of my governor roles as well as my thoughts on governance in general.

I must say I’m impressed with Fotolia as an organisation that I can work with. Firstly lets give you an insight into what Fotolia actually is all about. This next bit is taken directly from their site in the About Us section.

Fotolia is the first worldwide social marketplace for royalty free stock images, allowing individuals and professionals to legally buy and share stock images and illustrations.

Fotolia offers the largest image bank of free and affordable royalty free photos and illustrations perfect for any medium, web or print.

Photographers and designers constantly update Fotolia with thousands of new photos and illustrations each day, while photographers and designers receive commission from each photo sold and revenue from advertising on the free section.

Similar to the music or film industry, we believe that every artist’s (photographers and designers) image is a work of the soul and protected by intellectual property rights.

Fotolia is convinced that the principle reason for illegal pirated use of protected images is mainly due to the high price barrier created by other agencies.

Fotolia provides a compromise between photographers and buyers, by protecting a photographer’s intellectual property rights and offering high commissions, while legally lowering the price barrier so that everyone may enjoy/afford these beautiful images.

Fotolia challenges the traditional closed agency model by offering the opportunity to monetize their talents to everyone, hobbyist or professional, whatever their fame, status, or size of portfolio may be.

Thanks to our collaborative online model, Fotolia is able to offer individuals and professionals (advertising agencies, press, small business, graphic artists, designers) the greatest image collection in the world for free or as little as £ 1 .

So now you have an idea what they’re about It’s worth telling you why I’m so impressed.

I love creating art/graphics digitally. I’ve been into that sort of thing for a long time now and I’ve created thousands of images for desktop wallpaper over the years under my WEBSHOTS Id pete1111- Check them out if you want some crazy whacked out stuff for your computer desktop. They are all free so you’ve nothing to lose.

But then it occurred to me that I could perhaps use my creative juices to make a little extra income. Searching Google for a while delivered this company called Fotolia and I soon realised after reviewing their site they were the ones for me.

  1. I only have to worry about the creative element. They provide the business side.
  2. They manage all the accounts.
  3. They encourage contributor communications.
  4. They provide affiliation tools.
  5. They handle advertising.
  6. They cover a huge subject and concept range allowing me as a niche creative to get involved.

Results so far have been good, my work is up for display and I’m getting a fair amount of interest in terms of people viewing my creations and a few sales already has kept me boyant in using Fotolia as a means to generate some additional income. I’m looking at maybe a two to three year journey here in order to create sufficient images for my portfolio and for the buying community out there to get to know my creations. I’m in it for the long term but hey I love creating these things anyway so it’s no chore.

I set myself up with a Zazzle Store some time ago and didnt really do much with it. But to my surprise just recently things have started to move in a positive direction and I;ve sold one of my prints which happens to be a favourite image of mine.

I’m thinking this might be an avenue I need to spend more time on, the site needs an uplift and I’ve so many more designs I could create I ought to get stuck in and start something big.
